Post 27 - Planning- Setting

Image
Setting What is Setting?  You probably remember from grade school that the setting is where the story takes place, like the woods or Grandmother's house. Actually, the  setting  of a story tells the time, and place of a story and is told using techniques like imagery.  Time  When we talk the time in setting, we don't usually mean what time it is on the clock. The time of the setting is broader, like a period. The movie  Star Wars  is set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, for example, and the story  Romeo and Juliet  is set in the past here on Earth. Time settings can also be an era, such as post-World War II or the gold rush days of the Wild West.  Place  The actual place a story happens is a little more straightforward. Most stories happen in several places, so when we identify the place of a story, the rule of thumb is to find the best way to describe where most of the story takes p...

Post 26 - Planning- Script/Stage directions/ Plot outline

The detailed outline for my plot so far is.. Since my video is a two part I will explain the narrative for each video.. The first video follows a young couple, Charlie and Elsie, in a car, getting ready for something, this takes an entire day to drive to the location. They then arrive at a house and we soon realise they are at a house party, we then follow them into the party, throughout the first song, we see Charlie being hands on, rude and aggressive towards everyone.  We follow the couple through the party and discover Elsie feels very uncomfortable in her relationship, trapped. Charlie shows her off like a trophy to his friends, grabbing her and kissing her, getting drunk with his friends. Elsie sits uncomfortable and alone in the corner, avoiding drunken party goers as she searches for a missing Charlie. As she looks out the window she sees Charlie passing over a small bag to a friend.  Police car lights pull into the dri...

Lady working in pet shop,  Late 20's Do you watch music videos? yes I do If so, how do you consume them? I mainly stream them using vevo and youtube but sometimes I use the music channels on the TV How often do you watch them? Pretty much every day, I have a little boy who enjoys watching them so we watch them together    Why do you watch them (ie- you like the band, director)? I watch them to feel good, music makes you want to move, my little boy is three so we watch them to bond together What is your favourite genre of music/film? I don't really have a favourite genre of music, I like all k...

Post 23 - Audience Research

Image
What are you trying to find out in your audience research? In my audience research video I'm trying to find out what sort of people would want to consume it.  I paired up with Emily to conduct a series of interviews with people from Wymondham to find out what they thought made a good music video and their opinion on each of our ideas for our music videos.  I would like to find out is people's views on some mainstream teenage issues, I mention in my music video, particularly youth violence. I wanted to know how people felt about music videos being used to bring light to issues that aren't widely known among each age demographic. I feel like my idea is well known amongst young people but not so much older generations. I am trying to 'test the waters', and need to use this to assess several aspects What do real audiences consume? Who are the specific audiences for particular products? How do media industries target these audiences? ...
