Post 24 - Audience Research video

This is the audience research video I created after conducting research in Wymondham Town Centre and Wymondham High Sixth Form, these were the people that felt comfortable enough for me to film them..



There were several people we interviewed but did not want to be filmed, so we wrote down their answers and this is what they said..

Do you watch music videos?
yes I do

If so, how do you consume them?
I mainly stream them using vevo and youtube but sometimes I use the music channels on the TV

How often do you watch them?
Pretty much every day, I have a little boy who enjoys watching them so we watch them together   


Why do you watch them (ie- you like the band, director)?
I watch them to feel good, music makes you want to move, my little boy is three so we watch them to bond together


What is your favourite genre of music/film?
I don't really have a favourite genre of music, I like all kinds of music, anything really

Who is the audience for music videos?
Probably people in their 20's, music videos aren't so cheesy anymore, its usually women without a lot of clothes on, or rappers, so I would say people who are going out and about


In your opinion, are music videos an effective form of advertising?
Yes, I think they are quite a good way to advertise

How do you feel about relationships in music videos?
If its relevant its fine, but if its pointless and doesn't relate to the song then its kinda dull

Have you ever heard of Elly Bishop?
Yes, I think so but I couldn't name any of her songs, I have heard her and I like her music, but don't know her by name.

 Do you like two part music videos where the story continues over two songs?
I'm indifferent really, it depends on the song and if its relevant

What do you think about youth crime represented in film?
I don't agree with Guns and knives and how the media portrays them in a positive way, if its relevant to the song and the lyrics thats different but if its violence portrayed positively then I disagree.

I like musicals and classical music, I have quite a wide range actually

Younger than me!

yes definitely 

How do you feel about relationships in music videos?
yes relationships are good, they usually tell a story, I like a good story in media

I think so, she does busking doesn't she?

Do you like two part music videos where the story continues over two songs?
yes that sounds good, its something different

 What do you think about youth crime represented in film?
I don't think its necessarily bad, even when I was young I thought, I don't want to do these things, it still applies nowadays really, its still relevant

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? RESEARCH For the research element of my A2 coursework, I used several different media technologies. For example I used YouTube to search for examples of professional and student made music videos from different genres, this was really useful as YouTube allows people from all over the world to upload videos and share content, it meant I could look at students work from all around the world from different schools.  YOUTUBE CREATOR STUDIO I also used YouTube to search for inspiration from different artists and music video directors, such as the video I created for Hannah Lux Davis. Post 1 - Our practice task explained

My group (Megan, Noah, Wendy and I) were randomly given a fairy tale or nursery rhyme, and a question. We were tasked with creating a music video relevant to one of the stimuli given. The fairy tale we were given was- 'The boy who cried wolf'. The question we were given was 'What if you said yes to everything?' After discussion, we decided to choose the nursery rhyme (the boy who cried wolf). This was because we initially had more ideas for this stimulus, and felt we could develop an interesting music video. This is our original mind map for this idea: Potential song choices: 'Running with the Wolves'- Aurora:     This was one of our first choices.
