Post 18 - Dragons Den Pitch Planning

Image
Pitch for my music video     In class today we were told to create a pitch for our music video or short film ideas, we would then present this to our class mates and experienced individuals from the film industry. We were given two days to create this pitch, to plan and create either a video or some form of presentations, we were also given a list of pointers to talk about in our presentation, here are the ones relevant to my music video.. The brief we are taking, music video or short film The style of music/artist used (for music video) Idea of the narrative so far Idea for the performance element of it so far Potential cast Potential locations Research I have done and how that has affected my decision making  Any inspiration I have taken Anything to desperately avoid How my work is going to be creative and original I then created a power point presentation including all this information.

Post 17 - Ancillary Task 2 Practice

In groups we were given an existing album cover. We then has to use the re mainder of the les son to to shoot a recreation of the album cover as close as possible to the exact detail. The album cover we were given was... In order to recreate this album cover we then needed a side profile image, I used an existing photograph of a model I already had otherwise known as, Emily Rogers. This is the original photograph I then had to find an image of some trees to double exposure effect layer on top of the model, I used this image of whittlingham lake.  ( during editing ) this was the final outcome:

Post 15 - Ancillary task 1, practice

This is the poster we had to recreate:  The aim of this task was to recreate this poster as closely as possible.  To do this, we gathered five people from the CLC, and arranged them in these positions.   <- This is Megan taking our picture! We used her phone, and placed our participants against a plain white background. This was so we could edit in a different background behind them.    <- This   is our final photo. Meg an edited the picture. First, she created a gradient- blue background (fading from light to dark, like the original. Then, she removed the white background from the picture we took, and pasted it over the blue background. Next, we chose a font that we though was most like the originals font, and added the text over the picture. Finally, we did small final touches- we added a hat on Feargus to match the original.  This is our final piec...

Post 14 - My plan

What is your idea for your coursework at the moment? The idea for my coursework currently is that I want to do a music video in three parts, using my friend, Elly Bishop's new EP. Here are the songs I can find on youtube, as she has not recorded them professionally yet.  I wanted to use Ellys music because I think it looks fake and unbelievable when someone lip syncs with a song that is very obviously not their song. Using her own music makes everything seamless and more professional. She is also a close friend of mine which means I can ask her to be part of the video, even the main character, she can also bring in artistic views as she wrote the songs, she knows what the videos should be portraying. I was inspired to do a three part video based on trove Sivans trio of videos called Blue neighbourhood. I found it intriguing how it was one long story, almost like a short film yet was still a music video, th...

Post 13 - Music Video or Short Film

Should I create a music video or a short film? Creating a music video gives me more creative freedom as with a music video I don't need to worry about audio ruining the story telling aspect of the video. I don't want to use a well known song that someone else lip syncs to, if I were to create a music video I would use someone I know or could get in contact with, so when the lip syncing and/or performance took place, it wouldn't look awful and out of place in respect to the rest of the video. I wouldn't want my music video to seem student made. I want to go into making music videos when I enter the industry so this kind of practice is very useful.  I would love to create a short film, short films allow you to portray unique stories and characters, they make you fall in love with, or hate characters from the word go. however, I have never created a music video, I have never had a song that is...

Post 12 - Practice task evaluation

What went well? Whilst filming, numerous things went well. Firstly, the weather was perfect for our idea. We had planned to film outside, so a rainy or windy day would have been bad for the film and the camera. It was hugely sunny and hot, so the lighting was perfect for filming. Our idea revolved around a relationship, and was generally happy, so bright, sunny lighting was perfect. What didn't go well? What will you do/not do next time? The main problem we had with our filming was organisation. This was in many forms; first of all, it was difficult to choose a date and place that was available for all of us. Some of our group don't live in Wymondham, so it was difficult for them to get to the location. Moreover, the task was just before our mock exams, so it was a rather busy time, so we struggled to organise a time to meet. Once we did meet at the location, we hadn't created a proper plan of our video, let alone what we were doing on that day exactly. Beca...
