Post 14 - My plan

What is your idea for your coursework at the moment?
The idea for my coursework currently is that I want to do a music video in three parts, using my friend, Elly Bishop's new EP. Here are the songs I can find on youtube, as she has not recorded them professionally yet. 


I wanted to use Ellys music because I think it looks fake and unbelievable when someone lip syncs with a song that is very obviously not their song. Using her own music makes everything seamless and more professional. She is also a close friend of mine which means I can ask her to be part of the video, even the main character, she can also bring in artistic views as she wrote the songs, she knows what the videos should be portraying.

I was inspired to do a three part video based on trove Sivans trio of videos called Blue neighbourhood. I found it intriguing how it was one long story, almost like a short film yet was still a music video, the music added to the atmosphere of the plot, each song meaning something in relation to the story line. I particularly loved the flash backs, providing indications as to where the story could go.


The idea currently is cliche relationship gone bad, with the first video based on a couple, Elly and her characters boyfriend, the first video they would be very happy, unproblematic, however as the video goes on the boyfriend character develops into a nasty piece of the work. We are forced into not liking him. 

Who are you planning on working with or are you wanting 
to work alone? Why?

I want to work alone for this piece of coursework because when I worked in a group last time, none of my ideas were heard and I didn't get much of a say within the coursework. I didn't like our end outcome, if I were to recreate that task I would have done it completely differently. Working on my own allows me to be in control of my ideas and the coursework outcome

Where do you want to film?
Considering the video is almost 12 minutes long when its three videos combined, I am going to need a lot of footage. The first video Iam going to fill with happy moments, the couple being idealistic so for this Iam going to use this list to find some place to take my actors to, I need to take my couple out for the day and take them to several different places with several outfit changes and makeup looks to make it seem like they are on different days out. These date ideas will create the perfect stereotypical couple that cannot possibly be that happy and be sane. It is an unrealistic goal.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages? RESEARCH For the research element of my A2 coursework, I used several different media technologies. For example I used YouTube to search for examples of professional and student made music videos from different genres, this was really useful as YouTube allows people from all over the world to upload videos and share content, it meant I could look at students work from all around the world from different schools.  YOUTUBE CREATOR STUDIO I also used YouTube to search for inspiration from different artists and music video directors, such as the video I created for Hannah Lux Davis. Post 1 - Our practice task explained

My group (Megan, Noah, Wendy and I) were randomly given a fairy tale or nursery rhyme, and a question. We were tasked with creating a music video relevant to one of the stimuli given. The fairy tale we were given was- 'The boy who cried wolf'. The question we were given was 'What if you said yes to everything?' After discussion, we decided to choose the nursery rhyme (the boy who cried wolf). This was because we initially had more ideas for this stimulus, and felt we could develop an interesting music video. This is our original mind map for this idea: Potential song choices: 'Running with the Wolves'- Aurora:     This was one of our first choices.
