Post 17 - Ancillary Task 2 Practice

In groups we were given an existing album cover. We then has to use the remainder of the lesson to to shoot a recreation of the album cover as close as possible to the exact detail.
The album cover we were given was...
  • In order to recreate this album cover we then needed a side profile image, I used an existing photograph of a model I already had otherwise known as, Emily Rogers. This is the original photograph

I then had to find an image of some trees to double exposure effect layer on top of the model, I used this image of whittlingham lake.

How do I use my Canon 60D to create a high quality video? I wanted to do some research into how to get the best out of my camera to create a cinematic look for my final piece. I spent some time watching videos explaining each setting on the camera to help me achieve this look, I watched hours of videos to help me create the effects that I need. These are some of the videos I used. Short films made using a Canon 60D, the camera I am going to use : As we can see this short film relies on visuals created using different apertures to help create a beautifully lit piece of filmography. This film is filmed using a 30mm camera lens and as you can see the depth of focus is much shallower than the 50mm shown below. Post 36 - Planning- Ancillary Task 1- Digipak

Audience research video trying to find out the information needed to put into your decision making for your Ancillary task 1. Are there any particular CD covers that you remember? For what reason do you remember these? How important is the cover of a CD to you buying it? Why? In your opinion what makes a good CD cover? Does it need to stand out on the shelf? How much space should the act name and track name take up? Should the cover image be of the act or a piece of design/art work? Does this depend on whether the act is a soloist or as part of a group/band? Should there be a common theme across the 4 panels or 4 individual images? What should be included on the inside and back panel? Do you like to see the lyrics included? Should the acts social media accounts appear on the digipak somewhere? Should the images included have some link to the name of track(s), genre of music, name of act etc? Is the choice of font and text colour important?

Colour grading The grading of a well graded image can often augment the sense of story within a scene or even completely transform it. Without the grading an image may look flat, boring, or even disjointed. As a photographer becomes more proficient at grading he or she can leverage the power of color tone to influence emotional tone within a scene. Grading at this level can transform an unexciting frame into a moment of cinematic magic. Therefore I wanted to learn how to do this, I watched these tutorials to learn how to do this with the software I already own.
