This is the audience research video I created after conducting research in Wymondham Town Centre and Wymondham High Sixth Form, these were the people that felt comfortable enough for me to film them.. There were several people we interviewed but did not want to be filmed, so we wrote down their answers and this is what they said.. What are you trying to find out in your audience research? In my audience research video I'm trying to find out what sort of people would want to consume it. I paired up with Emily to conduct a series of interviews with people from Wymondham to find out what they thought made a good music video and their opinion on each of our ideas for our music videos. I would like to find out is people's views on some mainstream teenage issues, I mention in my music video, particularly youth violence. I wanted to know how people felt about music videos being used to bring light to issues that aren't widely known among each age demographic. I feel like my idea is well known amongst young people but not so much older generations. I am trying to 'test the waters', and need to use this to assess several aspects What do real audiences consume? Who are the specific audiences for particular products? In what ways will your music video or short film use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of existing music video or short film? Conventions are the generally accepted ways of doing something. There are general conventions in any medium. Codes and conventions are used together in any study of genre. The reason for codes and conventions are that the audience can become familiar with a particular genre as they get used to recognising the different conventions within a genre. It provides a structure that the audience can understand. To ensure the lyrics of the song fit in with our expectations of the music. The forms and conventions that are followed in a music video usually depend on the genre of the music video. For example, videos for rap music will conventionally include storylines between a boy and a girl or feature scenes in a night club.
